Technology and innovation
We believe that innovation is the key to helping customers improve and grow their business. With 12,191 patents worldwide, we launch more than 150 new products every year.
In  September 1976, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) was  established under the Royal Decree, which was a pioneering practice for a  developing country at the time. It  makes breakthroughs in the use of by-products from the extraction of  petroleum to produce high value-added goods (such as chemicals, polymers  and fertilizers) for export. These commodities also help to develop local downstream industries and meet the requirements of different market sectors. Crude  crude oil, which was once burned, has now become a valuable resource  for the production of profitable environmentally friendly materials that  benefit humanity.
In  the late 1970s and early 1980s, the fishing village of Al-Jubail in  eastern Saudi Arabia gradually developed into a modern industrial city,  where the Saudi Yanbu and Jubail Royal Commission built infrastructure,  the Saudi foundation. The industrial company (SABIC) builds a factory here and acquires technology through a joint venture.

It first acquired the DSM Group's petrochemical business in  Europe and later invested in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. In  2006, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) acquired Huntsman  Petrochemicals (UK) and renamed it as Saudi Basic Industries Corporation  (SABIC) (UK) Petrochemical Company, further expanding the operational  strength of the European division. . In  2007, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) acquired the General  Electric Plastics Group, now the “Special Material Strategy Division”,  which opened up new avenues for the development of advanced materials to  provide customers with high value-added products.
Saudi  Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) will continue to explore global  investment opportunities, strengthen its production, technology and  marketing capabilities, and further strengthen its global leadership.
Since the company's inception, the growth of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has never stopped.
